I think I may have mentioned the idea of doing a readthrough of Wilmot's 'Sodom' for a queer event some time?
Well, I note that it can be bought as an e-book in a few places. What do you think of the idea of organising an evening's readthrough as part of LGBT History month, some time at the end of February? Pub function room?
Do you think the idea has legs? I am going to make more posts about LGBT HM tomorrow, I think.
I think that's an excellent idea, and will happily lend my readthrough-organizing skills to the cause if you'll find a venue. My calendar's booked up on the 28th, but otherwise entirely free.
I'm surprised there isn't a free etext online, but I suppose nothing's complete. Any of my readers got a digital text they'd care to donate to the cause?
Annnnd we have a winner, courtesy in absentia of gnimmel - wikisource text (http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Farce_of_Sodom,_or_The_Quintessence_of_Debauchery).
*grin* seriously, i CANNOT WAIT. Talk about my favourite Play EVER...i'll do my *best* not to bore everybody with its masterful political insight and sociological commentary even. Which will take alot of willpower, but i'll do it!
I'm in two minds about that one. A lot of them are v. smart and useful people, but I don't want to see the event swamped by theatre-types rather than the general curious/educable/community-buildable public. I'd rather not divide things into performers vs audience, certainly.
Possibly the solution is to invite everyone and not cast anything till the evening.
Yup yup, good stuff. I trust your judgement on readthrough stuff, it's not something I know much about so I'm glad there are experts who are also my friends :-)

Thoughts: weekday evening or weekend?
