Valentine's Day 2.0

I've been seeing valentinr buttons all over LJ today. Well, in a few places, anyway. I don't intend to sign up for it, on the basis that I want to pretend I'm not that much of an attention whore, but the number people were getting got me thinking. Just whom do you send them to, anyway?

I see nothing wrong with sending them to lots of people.

Of course the longest relationship I've been in the last eight years was six weeks, so maybe I'm not the best source for this. ^_^

I miss one choice: to someone (or people) you love.

It doesnt always have to be someone of the opposite sex or a romantic interest i think.

.. although I dislike the word "should" in the first question. I think too many people send cards because they feel they ought to, rather than because they want to.

There's the obverse of that, though - a lot of people are too scared to send them, or refrain because they don't think they ought to.

Your partner is always a good option as well, especially if you don't wish to be turned into a frog.

I found an "anti-valentines" website a few years ago (its inactive now, but i'm sure theres others). You could send cute e-pitcures of rabbits sitting in saucpans with titles such as "Boiled Bunny, anyone?", and other similar pictures :)

I see cards as a way to remind someone that you're thinking of them, even though you might not see them as often as you'd like, so I wouldn't see the point of giving a card to your partner unless you don't see them regularly, which is relatively uncommon these days. (Gosh, that was a lot of commas.)

Sending a card to the unsuspecting object of your affections, however, is fun and can lead to fun happenings. ;)
