So, the second set of bombs didn't go off properly. It's a forensic gold mine. I'm possibly being a bit too suspicious here, but I'm wondering whether the second group were set up to fail and provide the evidence. Can't have people getting -too- unsure, after all. Got to keep the police action and the terror alert mood going.

I'm not convinced the second batch failed on purpose; I've never known terrorists to be quite that canny with their tactics. Not to mention the visible surprise on their faces when the bombs went 'splut'; wasn't one of the bombers described as looking "extremely dismayed"? :)

One of the things we keep getting told about these people, though, is that it's International Criminal Masterminds who recruit these people, train them up, and send them off to die.

I would've thought that a few working bombs would've kept the "terror alert" going at even fuller steam.

Guess it depends on what the "evidence" turns out to be, and how red those herrings are.
