So who is Thea Gilmore and do you recommend her? ;)

She's a slightly folky, slightly punky singer-songwriter - I put her in the same mental category as Richard Thompson, Alisha's Attic, Garbage, and Tori Amos, which is something like 'Really smart people who know what suffering feels like, and aren't going to take any shit about it.' The songs listed there are all downloadable in mp3 format from her website, http://www.theagilmore.com/ - I've just bought her CD 'Rules for Jokers' on the strength of those. I particularly recommend 'Nowhere' and 'The Dirt is Your Lover Now' out of that lot.
