Today's game

Three people walk into your office. You can take one of them for lunch; spend the afternoon in a pub with a second; and send the third into a three-hour meeting on harmonising cross-branch JC32 response procedures in your place.

I will start with Prince Charles, Helena (from Midsummer Night's Dream), and Monkey (from the Ramayana, the Journey to the West, or PL Travers, as you please). Lunch, pub, or meeting? Justify your answers, and suggest three more.

That's surprisingly easy, I think.

Helena for lunch. She's sweet and lovely, but I don't think I could cope with her for a whole afternoon.

Hanuman/Monkey for an afternoon in the pub. Would just be so fun.

And sending Prince Charles into the meeting would be entertaining, and possibly also quite useful if he started insisting on good environmental practises in the company and things.


Ooh, suggestion. Hm.

I don't know A Midsummer Night's Dream but I can see Prince Charles actually being an interesting chap to talk to either in the pub or over lunch - he clearly has lots of opinions about a wide range of issues, and I reckon he gets a bit of a bad press most of the time. He's certainly a better choice for a (future) head of state than pretty much anyone who would get elected to the post.

And I'd send Monkey into the meeting. He'd have a tremendous amount of fun, I'd have a tremendous amount of fun hearing about it all afterwards, everyone in the meeting who didn't want to be there would also have a tremendous amount of fun, and everyone who did want to be in the meeting would deserve what they got.

Oh, easy. I'll take Charles to lunch, go to the pub with Helena, and without a doubt send Monkey to completely destroy and disrupt the meeting.

The Monkey King has to go to the meeting. First of all, hilarity for all. Second of all, I can't afford to feed him. (That is based off of the Anime version of the monkey king).

Helena to the pub because we're kindred spirits.

That leaves the Prince for a nice public lunch so all sorts of rumours can spread. It will do wonders for my reputation.
