Courtesy of rillaith, a free online tool to store catalogues of your books and organise them by folksonomic tags. It has some very nifty features indeed, such as grabbing the Library of Congress data for the book you give it.

It gives you 200 books for free, and a small payment gets you a lifetime subscription for unlimited books whilst it's in beta. I've started putting my nonfiction and reference books in, the fiction can look after themselves for now.

http://www.librarything.com/ is the main URL, and http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=ravenmagic&sort=unique is my catalogue (or catalog, as they insist on calling it).

Toy! Toy! Toy!

...but what am I ever going to *do* with it? The number of times I've tried to catalogue my books, but really there's no point... is there? Tons of my books that have been with me more than about 20 years have little Dewey-clone numbers written in the front.

http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=vashti&sort=unique is mine, not that it has any books on it right now. Hm. Maybe I should do something about that.

I wondered whether there was a point, and decided it was two-fold - first, I get to show off some of the odder things in my collection, not that it's -that- abstruse, and second, it lets me reorganise it online by tag, and look at slices of it in new ways.
