On the state of the NHS

Really interesting, thoughtful article, pointing out a few knockon effects of health policy that I hadn't considered before.

Blair on Question Time was hilarious. He has no idea at all of the realities of the NHS.

And I don't agree that the appointment restrictions are only a few surgeries misinterpreting the targets, certainly not when two of the three practices I've belonged to over the last few years, in different parts of the country, have imposed them.

My surgery has a new rule: if you want an appointment, you need to ring up at 8.15 that same morning, except in very unusual circumstances.

I'm sure they have -very- few people waiting more than 48 hours for their appointment, so the targets have been suitably met.
