I knew the acoustics in the Pembury Tavern were bad, but this evening they were truly appalling, and that (combined with the low light level and the fact that I'd managed to get Show of Hands' Crow on the Cradle stuck in my head) meant I couldn't stay nearly as long as I'd hoped to. Apologies to whoever I missed!

I managed to walk off most of the stress (it takes me an hour and twenty minutes to walk home from the pub - there might well be a more direct route, but I haven't found it yet) but I'm still decompressing enough that I can't put on any more music, and when a housemate came home it felt as though he was shouting down the corridor. Which he doesn't, of course, but after a couple of hours sitting in a noisy hard-walled room and trying to follow conversations my ears are unpleasantly oversensitized.

Camomile tea will help.

I'm very sensitive to noise, too, and a few hours in a very noisy place can properly do my head in. More so if there is actually something I want to be doing there, and people I want to talk to, because I feel bad/guilty about missing htese things and annoyed at my own sensitivity while also going, 'aarrrgghhhHHH NOISE!'. So you have my sympathy. Also, I'm glad I never ended up coming to the Pembury tonight, although I meant to.

Bah, that sounds horrible by any standard. Hope you're feeling less aurally aggravated soon.

*gentle hugs*

I find it hard to spend more than a couple of hours at the Pembury myself, aside from the issues of Freda-wrangling - the acoustics of the place amongst other things, means that eventually I find it all just turns into one confusing wall of noise that I can't make hide nor hair of, and the only thing to do is leave.

The Pembury on a Sunday really isn't a good place to be for an aurally-sensitive introvert. :-/

I'm find that about two hours is my limit as well.
